God in many aspects or just one? [Aug. 30th, 2005|10:46 pm]

hello, I recently joined this community and would like to open up a topic of discussion.
How can people only see one aspect of God if God is indefinite and all-powerful and huge? How can we even claim to know all the aspects of God, to know all of God? How can we as measley humans think that is possible? I don't think we can lable God into only three parts and that's it, there's always going to be more to learn about God, and some of it probably won't fit into one of those parts of God that is supposedly all of God. But if labeling God into three specific parts really confining Him to these aspects? No, of course not, God will do and be whoever He wants to be. However, it might confine the way we look at God, which I really don't like people doing. I cannot fathom the full extent of God, so how can we think we can fathom Him as only one of our beings? He is certainly more than that in all the ways we don't see it.
i used He as a pronoun for God, yes yes i know gender specific=bad, but it's just easier, i don't know the gender of God, i was just calling it a Him, would you prefer it or him/her or ...?
this is my opinion on the topic, what's yours?

"god" limits himself through the bible by using the holy trinity as a reference to his identity. like you said, he cannot be limited, but our perception of him can. why does he do this? heh... the bible doesnt tell us everything, it just tells us what we need to know in order to worship him.

oh and...

ecclesia_verus is a new community dedicated to knowledge based on the judeo-christian paradigm. it touches into prophecy, the end times, and gives deep insight about the teachings of the holy bible and how they pertain to modern day life. no matter who you are or what path you claim, join if you're interested in learning more about why over half of the earth's population is dedicated to this one doctrine!

I don't consider the Bible all of God's teachings and all of what God has said. A lot of times humans misinterpret what God is trying to tell them and the Bible is not the only time what he was trying to tell us was written down. I don't want to just worship Him, I want to understand Him, all aspects that I can (the good and the bad) but I know that's not possible. But I can still try.

God

God
May I ask?
1. What allows you to think (accept) that any of the articles in the bible are in any way the "word" of GoA? (God of Abraham)
2. Why would any one want to worship a god that is so juvenile as to be "jealous” as is purported in the Decalogue?
3. If GoA is so complex and expansive would in not make more sense to simply live and be respectful to all humans and work toward a universal idea of love and abandon the misogynist ideologies of current GoA’n theologies.
Thanks

Re: God

1. Are you asking why i think that the first book with Abraham's story in it has the God of Abraham's word in it? The Bible explains the God of Abraham, so I do think that it has some "words" from the GoA when it says it does. how could I believe in the GoA without believing that the text that original explained the GoA had some of the GoA's words in it?
2.In the Decalogue, how did God appear to be jealous. Are you are referencing the 'false idols' commandment? I do not believe that God commanded us to do this because he was jealous of soemthign else we might worship. I believe God's reason for creating that commandment is that false idols can be destructive to our well-being. I believe that all of the commandments were to benefit us and not God.
3. Why do you think the current theologies of GoA's followers misogynist? Is having females put into high positions among the church misogynist? I think there is a need for religion because people need their little stories to teach the young and some figure to look up to. I don't believe that promoting the universal idea of love and respect for all humans will actually get people to love and respect everyone. I think that people like having stories and basic ideas to think about. Personally, I don't think that all of our own personal theologies at this second really matter, but that the idea of universal love and respect are important. But, I do believe in God, and I do need someone to pray to when I get upset.
You're Welcome, and Thankyou

Re: God

But what if that assassination intensifys his message?

Did that not happen?

What if his full reason for living was lived out

Re: God

but wasn't your point that ur mortal wouldn't get killed b/c the mediatary stepped in? or was it that this mortal's point in life wasn't fulfilled at the point of a planned assination but MLK JR's was, so it was ok?
