God in many aspects or just one? [Aug. 30th, 2005|10:46 pm]

[dulcimergurl]
hello, I recently joined this community and would like to open up a topic of discussion.
How can people only see one aspect of God if God is indefinite and all-powerful and huge? How can we even claim to know all the aspects of God, to know all of God? How can we as measley humans think that is possible? I don't think we can lable God into only three parts and that's it, there's always going to be more to learn about God, and some of it probably won't fit into one of those parts of God that is supposedly all of God. But if labeling God into three specific parts really confining Him to these aspects? No, of course not, God will do and be whoever He wants to be. However, it might confine the way we look at God, which I really don't like people doing. I cannot fathom the full extent of God, so how can we think we can fathom Him as only one of our beings? He is certainly more than that in all the ways we don't see it.
i used He as a pronoun for God, yes yes i know gender specific=bad, but it's just easier, i don't know the gender of God, i was just calling it a Him, would you prefer it or him/her or ...?
this is my opinion on the topic, what's yours?

"god" limits himself through the bible by using the holy trinity as a reference to his identity. like you said, he cannot be limited, but our perception of him can. why does he do this? heh... the bible doesnt tell us everything, it just tells us what we need to know in order to worship him.

oh and...

ecclesia_verus is a new community dedicated to knowledge based on the judeo-christian paradigm. it touches into prophecy, the end times, and gives deep insight about the teachings of the holy bible and how they pertain to modern day life. no matter who you are or what path you claim, join if you're interested in learning more about why over half of the earth's population is dedicated to this one doctrine!

I don't consider the Bible all of God's teachings and all of what God has said. A lot of times humans misinterpret what God is trying to tell them and the Bible is not the only time what he was trying to tell us was written down. I don't want to just worship Him, I want to understand Him, all aspects that I can (the good and the bad) but I know that's not possible. But I can still try.

God

God
May I ask?
1. What allows you to think (accept) that any of the articles in the bible are in any way the "word" of GoA? (God of Abraham)
2. Why would any one want to worship a god that is so juvenile as to be "jealous” as is purported in the Decalogue?
3. If GoA is so complex and expansive would in not make more sense to simply live and be respectful to all humans and work toward a universal idea of love and abandon the misogynist ideologies of current GoA’n theologies.
Thanks

Re: God

1. Are you asking why i think that the first book with Abraham's story in it has the God of Abraham's word in it? The Bible explains the God of Abraham, so I do think that it has some "words" from the GoA when it says it does. how could I believe in the GoA without believing that the text that original explained the GoA had some of the GoA's words in it?
2.In the Decalogue, how did God appear to be jealous. Are you are referencing the 'false idols' commandment? I do not believe that God commanded us to do this because he was jealous of soemthign else we might worship. I believe God's reason for creating that commandment is that false idols can be destructive to our well-being. I believe that all of the commandments were to benefit us and not God.
3. Why do you think the current theologies of GoA's followers misogynist? Is having females put into high positions among the church misogynist? I think there is a need for religion because people need their little stories to teach the young and some figure to look up to. I don't believe that promoting the universal idea of love and respect for all humans will actually get people to love and respect everyone. I think that people like having stories and basic ideas to think about. Personally, I don't think that all of our own personal theologies at this second really matter, but that the idea of universal love and respect are important. But, I do believe in God, and I do need someone to pray to when I get upset.
You're Welcome, and Thankyou

Re: God

i do believe i'm living out that dream
you think God would stop someone from assassinating a mortal who "has a dream where little white girls and little black girls..."? ...that didn't really work for martin luther king jr. but ok

Re: God

But what if that assassination intensifys his message?

Did that not happen?

What if his full reason for living was lived out

Re: God

but wasn't your point that ur mortal wouldn't get killed b/c the mediatary stepped in? or was it that this mortal's point in life wasn't fulfilled at the point of a planned assination but MLK JR's was, so it was ok?

different dimensions

We are going to keep learning more about god because we're going to keep adding stuff. God is a he becuase men wrote the bible. It seems people use god to fill the gaps of areas of knowledge they haven't yet understood yet.

Re: different dimensions

thankyou for commenting.
your title reminded me of the name one of friends thinks about God: a precious stone cut with many different crevices and sides in which normal people can only see one and the really special prophets like Jesus and Muhammad and Buddha can see 2 or 3 of, which is a nice way to look at it. kind of blows your mind to think how much more out there in God there is though.

Re: different dimensions

Muhammad was rumored to be insane and doubting sharing his testimonys with other people but his wife convinced him...(romored)keyword

how about this

Nostradomus beleived that he could see future events because everything that will happen is already recorded Almost as if its already happened
He beleived in something called the hall of records Very similar to the Book of Knowledge and the String Theory and the Akashic Field

If every action you do has an electrical output and its recorded onto an "Field" then you would have a Book of knowledge with an account of every action
So theoretically you shud be able to access everything thats happened

God is said to be omnipresent Omnicient To know everything and be Everywhere
God is also said to be a part of the Divine Trinity the holy ghost and God and Jesus

What if God is the creater of the Universe the Holy Ghost is the field having a record of every event every thought every everything

What if God told alot of ppl about him but because of societys the ppl took it differently sometimes putting in social norms

In the beginning before the big bang there was nothing then scientists say that out of nowhere a piece of material formed
it was infinately small and had the entire mass of the universe the matter was so dense is collapsed under its own weight
But physics states that since matter is energy the only thing that can create matter Is energy
But if nothing was around before the big bang then the big bang couldnt have existed
Something had to create the energys to make that particle

If the "field" is real then Any movement would add to the field which would create more and more energy in return and become so dense
that it would be able to create that First mass

So if God was the first energy Movement than it would be pliable to have the big bang happen

because if Nothing existed before the big bang then how would anything be around to make the mass to make it concentrate to make the big bang

Re: different dimensions

that makes sense to me of course it only works if you believe in the Field theory and the Big Bang Theory

Re: different dimensions

your exactly right
but if you really thinkg about it
there was a beginning
i cant comprehend any existences without it
theres the Everythings always been around theory
but that doesnt make sense in any direction i can lok at things
Thers a beginning and and end to everything

and that contradicts scientific theory also because supposedly theres been scientists "Watching" microwave signals from the big bang for Years

there is also alot of information supporting a field theory
Obviously String theory and Super String theory are getting increasingly popular in recent years but those theorys dont support a barrage of other case studys

an acceptable Theory of Everything has to be able to include Everything

Definitely go for he. He's always described that way in the bible. I'm female and I don't find it offensive in the least.

eh

i dont like how people take religion into freakin insane levels like wars for example. it would be nice if we would all stop being stupid and arguing about whether or not a god exists. i am satanist...before you flip out no thats not devil worship it is simply something Anton Lavey came up with and i liked. for me i do not think there is a god or devil.
